We separate our frame sizes into three categories: small, medium, and large/xl. Each pair is measured across the widest part of a lens, which is called the lens diameter or Eye Size. Don't know your eye size? Follow these 3 steps!

How do I submit my prescription?
Upload your prescription while adding a product to your cart. Alternatively, once you’ve already placed an order, email the image of your prescription to info@opticsoutfitter.com.

We’ll also need your pupillary distance (PD).
Your PD is the distance in millimeters between your pupils, and it helps us center your prescription correctly in your frames. If your doctor did not include this measurement with your prescription, most optical shops will measure your PD for free or a small fee.

Please note: We’re unable to fill expired eyeglasses prescriptions and prescriptions for contact lenses. If your doctor provided an expiration date on your prescription, we will always abide by the doctor’s orders. If your doctor did not provide an expiration date, we’ll adhere to the optical rules of the state where your prescription was written to determine if we’re able to fill it.

How do I obtain a prescription?
Make an appointment with your local optometrist. Be sure to ask your doctor to include your pupillary distance (PD) on your prescription!

Although the term “Sports Goggles” is used frequently for all Sport Protective Eyewear, this category can be separated into several product types. Each Product Type is as protective as the other and mostly comes down personal preference and comfort in choosing a product type.

Frames:               Eyewear that is more of the traditional style of eyeglasses and comes with a frame strap to secure it in place.

Goggles:              Eyewear with a strap that goes above the ears and around the head.

Interchangeable:             Product that is convertible between Frame and Goggle.

Buying glasses online may be a new experience, but we're here to help you through the process! If you didn't know that glasses had sizes, you're not alone. Frame size is comprised of several elements, measured in millimeters. Each frame will have its measurements shown in the product details. e.g. [A:49 B:32.5 DBL:17 TL:135].

Check out the guide below and to find your recommended Rec Specs eye size, check out our Sizing Guide.

All Rec Specs sports eyewear is made with shatter-proof polycarbonate lenses. This provides a complete product (frame and lenses), that is impact-resistant and meets or exceeds ASTM Sport Impact Standards. There are several prescription options available with Rec Specs sports eyewear.

With every purchase, an Anti-Fog treatment is integrated onto the lenses to minimize fogging during high-energy activities and/or playing in cooler temperatures.

Clear: clear tints are best for all-around/all-season use. If you are often in varying playing environments (indoors/outdoors, day/night) you may find yourself battling the sun.

Light Responsive: A great single lens option for bright light to low light, indoors to outdoors. Light responsive lenses start virtually clear and darken as the light conditions change. Comes standard with a transition to a grey tint.

If you're wondering how you choose a pair of glasses online without trying them on, you've come to the right place. Each frame size is tagged with a width to make your sizing decision as easy as possible. Think about other things you purchase for your head; helmet or hats. If you're still unsure, you're probably a medium. Check out the images below.
